WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS AND SPECIAL SCHOOLS?

alternative

Many people regularly pretence which usually special needs students go to pick schools when it’s not true. Isn’t it opposite a “least limiting environment” to send special needs students to a pick school? Shouldn’t they go to a special propagandize given it meets their needs? Alternative schools do not await special needs students well. They do not have debate or self-contained classes. What kind of primogenitor would send their own special needs kid to a pick propagandize which doesn’t even encounter their needs? The special propagandize would be some-more appropriate.
I suspicion pick schools were schools which were nontraditional. we suspicion they supposing a preference for students. Students aren’t forced to go to pick schools. It’s something which they chose as a result a name.

  1. an alternative school is where they send kids who misbehave a lot and have gotten like expelled and stuff like, its def.not just for special needs kid its really filled with kids who aren’t special needs. a special school is for kids with a disability or is handicap and the work is much easier but the work is also easier at an alternative school also but yeah it wouldnt be wise to send your special needs kid to an alternative school.

  2. I think alternative school’s would be like a private or military school ,and a special school would be like for handicapped children or something like that.

  3. Alternative schools are so deemed the title because they are the school of last resort for students who run the risk of being expelled from the school system. These students tend to have behavioral issues that prevent them from being successful in school and the intent of the alternative setting is to provide them with a less stimulating environment for less hours per day to insure their success.

Special schools or special needs schools are those schools designed for students who have developmental or physical impairments that prevent them from being successful in the standard environment.

You are correct. It would not be appropriate for a parent to send a child with special needs to an alternative school – unless the alternative school is designed to meet the needs of the impaired.

  4. You are correct with your statement that parents with a special needs child should NOT send their child to an alternative school.
Alternative schools are for those children that are at an impass and the public school system is looking for a way to put that child out of their school system. They explain it to the parents as a “way of helping their child” when in reality, it helps them…the school. The school will earn an A grade because they have less “special education” students in their school, who may not pass all the state tests…ie: FCATS.
Special needs students should be placed in the public schools and have IEPs in place that met all the childs individual needs, as documented by their parents, teachers, physicians and social workers, physical therapist, speech therapists etc.
    Great question. Blessings, Patti
